An early result from INTEGRATES was presented at the CNR-ITC Construction Days 2026, held in Naples from 30 September to 2 October.ย
Daniele Antonucci, Senior Researcher at Eurac Research, presented the contribution โBrickSchema e digital twin ibridi per la manutenzione data-informed del patrimonio costruitoโ, developed together with Andrea Carabalona and Alessandro Ferrari from Cynergy.ย
The work addresses a common challenge in building management: data from sensors, building management systems and simulation models are often fragmented and difficult to connect.
The prototype combines operational building data, a semantic description based on BrickSchema and simulation models. In a pilot case at the University of Trento, a machine-learning model was trained on real operational data from an air handling unit to estimate the efficiency of its heat recovery system. This estimate is then used in the air handling unit model coupled with EnergyPlus.
The initial results demonstrate the feasibility of connecting physical assets, sensor data and digital models. They also show that further validation is needed, particularly under different operating conditions and across multiple buildings, before the approach can support operational maintenance decisions.
This work contributes to a broader INTEGRATES objective: making fragmented building data easier to connect and use in practical activities across the building lifecycle.ย
